God Loves His Creation – Life

God killed a lot of people in the Bible. Why do Christians say he’s “pro-life”?

First, you must understand that God sustains all life, every second of every day. Second, you must understand that mankind was told from the outset that sin will lead to death. Therefore, since we have all sinned since our first ancestors, we have all been under a death curse for rebellion against our creator.

God owes no one a day of life. None of us have grounds to demand anything from Him. Therefore, in honest appraisal, we ought to praise him for every day we are graciously given.

Now, if you look at all those “baddies” who God did kill, or command to be killed, they were ALL given warnings and chances to repent. People often lament those poor Canaanites. Here’s what they ignore:
a) they were told that the land was given to Abraham.

b) they had priests. Their high priest was a fellow name of Melchizadek; and Mel, their high priest, was righteous. He knew that God had a right to give the land to Abraham, and He know that Abraham had been faithful to God. So, we can infer that righteous high priest Mel warned the Canaanites.

c) The Canaanites were very wicked. They committed all kinds of heinous sins. The record shows they abused children, their women, and they even committed bestiality. As a result of their many ungodly practices, they were known to have many diseases. Indeed, it’s been established that many of the STDs we deal with today began in Canaan.

d) Now consider this: God gave those wicked people 400 years to repent. They did not. They knew God had promised to cleanse their land and bring the Hebrews there as His royal nation. What did they do, for that 400 years? Hardened their defenses. They knew that God had already condemned the ‘giants’ (or Nephilim) and judged them in the days of Noah. But, they got involved in bringing about these giants again, in defiance of the Creator (we see this mentioned in the books of Exodus and Joshua).

In other words, people who are already under a curse, were warned and rebelled even more against the Creator. He owed them nothing, except judgment and they accepted those terms and remained hostile to the purposes of God.

So…. What were the purposes of God? To bring forth a redeemer, Christ, the Lord. To do that, God needed a nation that was not practicing demon worship and not sacrificing children to idols. You see, God’s purpose is to redeem mankind from the death curse! God does not WANT to judge us, but He will if we persist in the rebellion. God WANTS to redeem and save those who are lost. That is why Christ came!

Turn to Jesus. He is calling out yet, but time is short. The judgment is coming soon. They day of God’s wrath upon the earth is not far off. Turn to Jesus while you can. Nothing else can save you, but turning to Christ in obedience to His Gospel.
