The days of theoretical Christianity are over. This generation isn’t interested in false promises, doctrinal disputations, or intellectual divisiveness. And that’s a good thing, because when they experience the Spirit of the Living God and come to know Jesus personally, they tend to be more willing to boldly go where Jesus leads.
Today, even those who are interested in following Jesus struggle to find a place within church because The Faith is usually presented like theory, rather than action. e.g. Jesus is a man of action, and we know Jesus said Go. Make disciples. Until the end of the age. Most importantly: Jesus said, “…teaching them to do everything I instructed you…”. Action. Power. Daring. Life. Jesus is a man of action, and true apprentices pursue God-sized adventure.
Unfortunately, few today know how to attain that God-sized calling, much less how to pass it on. It’s not only what Jesus instructed, but also how Jesus instructed that is spiritual and life-giving. The way of Jesus is an adventure! Typical discipleship methods teach theoretically, but Jesus taught interactively AND practically. They want you to “take up your cross” from day one, yet Jesus introduced that step in the 3rd year of His mission. They want you to clean up your act, before you shower in the grace of God. Jesus washes us with the spirit, so that we can be transformed – made pure and new.
The book, “The Jesus Adventure – Journey to Spiritual Freedom“, is about becoming apprentices in The Faith of Jesus. We become pathfinders and treasure hunters, using the treasure map of Jesus. We don’t merely investigate, but we explore, finding the resources and the treasures of the vast mystery of God. Because there is a redemption process, a journey, which Jesus leads. The book takes the reader on a journey of transformative redemption, in the way of Jesus. This compels them to keep going farther, deeper, walking closer as apprentices of The Master.
The Jesus Adventure is a practical interactive supernatural discipleship method that empowers people to thrive and grow in the spirit, in prayer, in faith; building life-long relationship bonds with Jesus and His people. This book is not about soft-handed, business as usual, sitting in a pew on Sunday Christianity. It’s a bold journey by the power of God that goes with us, as apprentices of Jesus who become agents of the Life-giving Spirit of God. It’s a daring spirit led adventure, 24×365.
About the Method & The Author
After 25 years of leading small groups in various churches around the US, it became evident that Jesus had a reason for doing what He did, and for the way He did it. One of the more fascinating parts of The Jesus Adventure project is how my own life was transformed in the process of developing the book; as Jesus led my wife and I to walk through the process interactively, learning to overcome the kind of challenges that Jesus led His disciples through on many bold and daring adventures of faith – we saw amazing grace, life, and miracles take place.
Theological questions will abound whenever overlaying a fresh theme to Biblical discipleship. Every ministry leader and student of theology worth his salt should be concerned for error and false teaching. I confess, I took liberties with how I communicate the Bible in this book. But I also took painstaking efforts to study the bible in original languages and listen to God’s voice there. In the manuscript, I quote more than 500 pieces of scripture. I confirmed theological ideas with commentaries and ministry leaders from across centuries and across various denominational perspectives. Most of all, this book is born of much concerted prayer. At times, I held off using some ideas until The Lord led me to where and how I could confirm them. I have consulted with my own pastor and several students of theology to find theological errors – but each confirmed my work.
